Ok, I have MTS very badly, and after getting a pair of used 55g that I am either selling or storing (ones chipped and both probably need to be resealed, i lack the space to restore and more importantly, test so I am shelving them for now til I move next or if i sell em). Anyway, I really would like to expand my 29g planted, I am relizing the limitations of the space just for what i want to do right now and I think i'll actually be happier with a wider tank then a longer one right now.

So, I am looking at either a 46g Bowfront 36" L x 16.25" W x 20" H or a 50g 36'' long x 15'' wide x 20'' high. Now, Normally this would be a no brainer, but that extra 1.25 inches at the very front seems VERY tempting for landscaping space. is the extra 4 gallons worth sacrificing that 1.25 at the very front?

IMO bowfronts look better but the max with is in the center, ours is 12.5 on the end and 18 in the middle....:)

I have a 46 bow, and I probably wouldn't notice the extra 1.25" since with that shape you would probably do a taller scape anyway. I don't like the fact that your viewing angle is much smaller with the curved glass on the bowfront versus my square tanks.

If you go with the 46 you will be limiting your stand choices as well as any canopy or hood. For example I had a hard time finding a new piece of glass for the front of my lid.
