Help with my new skimmer

So I just got my first skimmer today, and I had read in the past about people doing things to them before using them in the tank, such as running them in freshwater/running them in soapy water/running them in vinegar water. I had heard that this is to remove a coating from them that they are made with from the factory.

Any thoughts? Or should I just throw it in the tank right away?

Personally, to save setting it up, and them removing again to wash, your better off just washing it now, and its done with, then get it on your tank to run in....

Sounds good, Ill go ahead and wash it with some mild soap and water.
