just hand fed for the first time!

Well I'm still undecided on returning my green brittle star... I hand fed it tonight and it was so cool! I had some shrimp with dinner so and I had set some (raw) aside for my land hermit crabs and decided to try to feed a bit to the star. He LOVED it! I've never hand fed a fish tonight and it was really so awesome (probably more so than it should have been)! The fish loved it too, it was a nice treat all around. I am kindof hoping that if I can keep the star well fed he won't bother my fish... kinda risky I know...
 
Usually fish that are well fed will leave others alone. Hehe hand feeding is great :) Unless you are hand feeding some with large teeth.
 
I've had my green brittle star for over a year now. It's about 15 inches across and probably large enough to each just about anything he wants in the tank, but has never bothered anyone. I hand feed him a silverside or piece of shrimp once a week and he leaves everyone alone.

wow that's great to hear... i've seen him swipe at my fire shrimp but the shrimp gets out of there fast... and he sure loves the silversides...
 
I had a green brittle star for 2 years and not once did I see him go for any of the tankmates. The only reason I gave it back to my LFS is because it got too big. I'm thinking of getting another for the new tank.
