Hi. For 3+ months, my EBJD has grown from just under 2” to almost 4.5” (tail included) I think it is a he, hardy (used to be in the 15g, morning PH 7.2 & evening 8.5) and a great eater. Please look at the pic, are the sunken eyes normal? Grow too fast? I’ve been careful not to overfeed him.
Thanks.

If it was a serious eye infection you would think the rest of the body would be in rough shape it looks very "sunken" but he looks good. I'd be more worried about the giant ph swing, that cannot be good for any fish.

He's been in my 120g for 2 months now, zero aggression. The PH in this tank is very stable at 7.2. Here is a pic right after the "transfer". Yes he looks great besides the sunken eyes, never darken or lighten like he did from time to time in the 15g.

Just wanna know if it is genetic or overly fast growing...
Thanks.

Genetic. Nothing to worry about. I don't think growth rate would affect such a thing.

Nice looking fish.

Thanks much. :)

He's fine; I don't think it's anything you need to worry about. Main concern with ebjds is when they stop eating you have maybe two weeks to sort things out before they die. Hopefully you won't have that problem since he's gotten some size to him. Suggest you look in at:

If all else seems well, I'd say genetics.
