I have a special breeding tank that is 1 gallon for breeding ramhorn snails. If i use regular untreated tap water with chlorine and chloramin still in it would it harm the snails? There is no fish in it! Just snails! Also i have the same question for regular pond snails as well.

the rean i ask is the fact that i change out the water completely every day and would like to make it cost effective if possible, theres alot of snails.

i would treat the water. its cheap. i think they should be fine without it but why risk it.

I think chlorine/chloramine treated tap water would harm or kill the snails.

do you mean untreated?
i have put them in untreated water and they seemed fine. wasnt for long period of time. pick up some prime its like $10 for 2500 gal. its cheap why worry about it.
