I am probably looking into something more than I want at this point... but I was looking on aquabid.com and like the look of live plants. A long time ago (about 10 yrs) I had a 20L and had it planted with no special lighting... in gravel, and it did well. But after going to the LFS and mentioning live plants they wanted to sell me "special" substrate and lighting. I just want a few live plants.. am I crazy, the more I look into things for my tank, the more I want.
:dance2:

Anyways. Here is my question. With a sand bottom and a bit of fertilizer.. are there some "easy" plants that will do well.

This "free" tank (65 hex) is getting more and more expensive looking.

I still need to get the filter. That's in the budget 2 weeks from now.

I'll move this over to the Aquatic Plant Forum where you will get more answers.

root tabs should take the place of planted tank gravel.

Usually lighting is the limiting factor in a planted tank. What kind of lighting do you have and how many watts?

well stay away from the people at the lfs. they thought they could make a mint off you. like plantling said light is usually the mimiting factor. i would check out ahsupply.com for some lighting.

stick with the low light plants and you should be fine. even some of the low-med light plants should be ok with the right lighting.
