Are vegetarian fish still canibals?

I am a newbie just planning my purchases for a Jewel Rio 400 (90 gal) and I am considering going for plants that are considered unpalatable for fish. Does this mean if I go for neons/cardinals I can also go for something bigger that would have eaten other plants, but being vegetarian will not cannibalise? I fancy small fish, but would like some larger ones to give balance.

Thanks

My experience is that most any fish, regardless of their dietary needs, will nibble on dead fish.

most fish need to be opportunistic in nature and will eat fish that are tiny enough to be easily gulped down. Some large fish can be mixed with considerably smaller fish as long as the difference is not too much.
