A friend recently gave me a couple cherry red shrimp which I promptly added to my tank of tetras. At the time I had only painted, neon, and gold tetras. The next morning I could not find the shrimp. I have not seen them since! I would really like to have some cherry reds. Is there a chance of keeping them alive in my tank? I should also mention that I have added alot of grasses to the tank since that time.
The more cover you have the better your odds are. I have a ton of Java moss that the shrimp love to hide in.

Ok thanks. I will see about getting some java moss. Currently I have hair grass and mondo grass plants as well as other bushy tall plants.

the more ground cover the better. a big thing of java moss where they can hide in it and keeps the other fish out is great.

Mondo grass isn't a true aquatic plant and will die if keep submerged indefinitely.

Mmmmm, no wonder it was cheap.
