I'm setting up a 55gal planted aquarium

Rena xP2 filter, bottled co2 enrichment, ~2.3watts/gallon

I'm in the process of researching and buying the equipment (so far have over $1000 in this tank(s) lol.)

Initially I bought a Marineland bio-wheel filter for the tank but later learned these are counter-productive to co2 enrichment, so just ordered the xP2 filter. Also bought some other things before learning I didn't need them, so yea I have a little extra equipment I'll have to find a use for (more tanks?) :D

After looking at various fish i'm kind of leaning toward rainbowfish.

As with essentially anything but the very basics in species the two LFS's here where I live are useless so I'll have to order them over the internet.

Obviously my budget isn't the smallest, but I don't have a grand more to spend on fish. ;-)

Generally what are the difficulties in keeping rainbowfish and are they well suited for the type of tank I'm trying to setup?

As for plant species for the tank, pretty much open to must anything...

Personally, I'm a huge fan of rainbowfish, as they're generally very peaceful and active. The thing is, you gotta make sure there's plenty of swimming room for them, and their colors get more intense if you feed them live foods
