Many of you have heard me discussing my female gourami with the mangled vs. diseased mouth. The male stopped harrassing her, so I have kept them together, and her mouth seemed stable. So, I took a watch and wait approach. I switched to the larger tank on Friday. She seemed a bit more timid and less active, but new home I figured. Today she is VERY sluggish, hanging at the top, taking in a good bit of air. I just fed the fish to test her, she didn't eat a bit. The rest of the fish are fine and the water is good. OK, now I have an empty tank without a filter. Can I quarantine her without a filter and just do pwc? Try antibiotic?

Well I am trying to lasso the lady and she knows it. She is hiding in places too small for a gal her size. The male gourami is harrasing her again, probably because she is acting like a zombie, but she will move quick from him. My zebra danios are starting to peck at her. I saw a weak fish being eaten alive at the fish store the other day so she is going in the qt tank, even without a filter. She has too much zest right now to put her out of her misery, but yet I don't expect her to make it. She was so beautiful and vibrant, it is hard to watch her wither away.

Hope all goes well, but it sounds sort of the way my swordtail died. Good luck.

She's gone. Live and learn.
