How big of a tank would you guess that you can start a real eco-system? This is where you only have powerheads (since your gonna need a huge thing to use the moons gravity as water flow and that wouldnt be fair) and livestock, you dont do any water changes and you dont dose the tank at all, you just top off with RO water. And you dont feed your fish since they will always have food available to them

What i am saying is you arent dosing or doing water changes, your calcium comes from your sand bed and your empty snail shells from dead snails and/or dead hermit crabs. And other trace elements are provided the same way they come from nature, how big of a tank do you think someone would need to start there own eco-system?

Just as a reminder, i am not trying this, i dont know anyone try this, i just want to see what people think.

Well the largest Marine aquarium is 5,000,000 gallons and it can't do it so I would guess something the size of an ocean.

agreed. Nothing on a residential scale could simulate an ocean environment, unless you had only a few fish, which wouldnt be very exciting.
