How do you setup the water you use for your aquarium/water changes?

I was browsing an aquarium site, and saw both Seachem Cichlid Lake Salt & Seachem Malawi/Victoria Buffer for sale. I thought using these two together might be easier than the way I'm currently creating the water. I got the package with the Salt and Buffer a couple days ago. Once I started reading the direction, it said to start with DI or RO water. I don't have either, I've just been using tap water.

Do any of you use DI or RO water? If so, where do you get it?

Or do most of you just use tap water and adjust accordingly? If so, what products do you use to get your water to the correct parameters? Or do you make your own with salt, epsom salt, and baking soda?

Also, what's the difference in dKH and KH? Some sites list dKH and some KH for the water parameters. My test kit uses KH.

i just use tap water. i just treat the water and toss it in. have you tested your water? most times you shouldnt mess with your tap water. many fish can adapt. a stable ph is better then a ph that swings.

Yeah, I've tested it. My tap water has a pH of 7.8, GH of ~10, and KH of ~9.

i wouldn't be adding anything, except Prime when changing water.

should be fine. like i said stable ph is best. when you start messing with your water many things can happen.
