live rock rubble

I have just bought a new 6ft tank which I intend on using to keep cichlids but it came with a sump which is full of live rock rubble. The rubble was still covered with tank water but hasn't had pumps or heaters running on it for a couple of weeks. Will it still be any good and does anyone here want it? collection only I'm afraid! Would love to set tank up as marine but can't afford such a big set up - live rock, skimmers, lights etc Also can anyone tell me how to clean all the red crusty stuff off, I assume I need to get rid of it all before I can use tank for freshwater fish

it should have anything wrong with them. If you are looking to part with them i would take them off your hands i used them for my filter also
 
Wheigh it, then find a local reef club to sell it there.
 
Wow, I would love to have all of that! Hehe.

The tank can be cleaned a few ways. You can use a razor blade and some vinegar. There are other ways too but I can't remember them all. If you do a search you should find them.
 
You're welcome to have rubble Galantra but are not in the USA? UK is a long way to come to pick it up! lol!
 
I went to work and look what I came back too! My fab other half had cleaned it all up - how lucky am I?

How'd your other half make it look so good? Share their secret cleansing abilities! :)
 
good old fashioned elbow grease! and a razor blade! needs a bit of a final rinse and the sump fixing then I can start setting up. I think I'm going to alter sump slightly to make last compartment a bit smaller, how many sections do I need? I've been advised to put pond brushes in the first section, there are koi spawning brushes on e-bay are they ok? I was also going to use foam and alphagrog but how much of each what type of foam? will that be enough or do I need anything else?
