pseudotropheus Lombardoi (kenyi)
I have a young male i believe because since i got him he has started to get a yellow tint to him. Know from what I understand that would be a male and I went to the store today just to look to see if I could find females and I was told theres no way for me to tell witch is witch. I'm not sure if I'm right but don't the females stay the blue tint instead of turning yellow can someone give me so advice?
Thank you:confused:

My understanding is that the color is the only reliable way to tell - i had 3 young ones and all three turned yellow (ie male). One got killed and i brought the other back to the pet shop -the one remaining male is happy now and does not touch the other fish in the tank - i plan to get a few females -
Only reliable way is to purchase fish that are a bit older.

Community tank? A Kenyi should not be left in a community tank - what are the other tank mates?

Pseudotropheus aren't pairing fish. They do best in groups to break up the aggression. The females stay blue while the males change to yellow. One on one you're going to most likely end up with a single fish. Select at least two others that are about the same size and are still blue and you'll most likely end up with a happy trio.
