View Full Version : how many caves for 8 Mbuna cichlids in a 30g tank?

i was just wondering how many caves i should need for 8-10 Mbuna's. i have 25kg of ocean rock in there at the moment with about 16 visuall caves. probably more caves hidden away.

That's probably adequate (if what you can see = what a fish can fit into).

I would think that's enough and there are undoubtably nooks & crannies that you can't see...it's not a sure and certain preventative in respect of aggression, but it sure helps :)

:grinyes: As many as possible... Hubby is fully stocked on fish, so now he buys rock... probably 4-5 caves per fish - they love it!!!

thanks for every ones help.
Also, they will make their own spaces by digging under the rocks. Make sure they are well seated.
I put an old undergravel rack in just so as the rocks sit on that, not balanced on the sand
