You can buy it for 5 to 10 cents per pound but you have to buy a truckload and that can run from 1000 dollars for delivery. maybe if an aquarium society got alot of people together and throw in a couple of bucks each they could buy a truckload of the stuff and sell it cheap to members only who pitched in?

Have you tried looking in the phone book for local companies that sell groundcovers? For example, we have a place called House of Rocks in KC...you can buy as much as you like or as little. Very handy for subtrate, holey rock, etc. For the small amounts, you have to pick it up yourself, but then again this means you get to choose the pieces yourself.

Will, I'm in Ky too and there's a pond shop in Lexington that gets it occasionally- 30 cents a lb- I haven't seen it there myself but the owner told me when I bought my corkstone there. He said it goes fast but its worth calling around.

try looking around at pet shops??
