need some good DIY links

I have been trying to find some really good DIY links but many sites are oft plagued with advertising or selling in mind.

Since I am a newbie, I am concerned that if I find a bad DIY I won't have enough experiance to realize it is bad.

I don't know where I can buy glass or acrylic for aquariums.

I figure the more DIYs I look at the better chances I will have of creating a better project.
