I was wondering what the best way to clean a used unpainted wood stand. I was thinking about spraying it down with the hose but will it cause water damage? I need some advice! thx

Sandpaper would work quite well, but probably take awhile.
it depend on what is on the stand, if its wood stain you want out there are some paint strippers that would remove it. if its just gunk on it then like MikenDanielle said just hit it with some sandpaper.
BTW please dont spray it with the hose, water and most woods dont mix well :)

so just normal sandpaper from home depot and some elbow grease should take the gunk off?

I used coarse sandpaper first to remove all the gunk out and then finished it with finer grip sandpaper to smooth it out. Then I stained the stand.
