AAAAAAUGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH! I have to move home for the summer!

That's Thursday or Friday of next week, but I need to figure out completely how I'm getting the stuff home...

I've got arrangements for my five fish...that's just a matter of catching and bagging them. I'll have another tank set up at home for their temporary storage while I get this one set back up.

I've got a 5g bucket here, and I'm thinking of putting the gravel and a small layer of water in the bucket.

I'm thinking that I'll bag the filter media and filter and put them in the cooler with the fish, along with the heater, also bagged.

I'm going to wrap the hood in newspaper and bring it home in that manner.

Does this sound plausible?

ChilDawg, that's still the Cories and "Methuselah" the Survivor Oto? They'll be bagged and in the cooler, right? Don't put anything in the cooler with them that could break free or slide around and bash their bages. Add crumpled newspaper so the bags don't crash around inside the cooler.

I'm fussy. I'd say do a light scrape of the top layer of your substrate and lay it back out on the surface again last step in setting up. What I mean is, don't stir up your nitrifiers, in the very surface of the substrate, together with the hypoxic layers underneath.

If you're real slick, you can set up and not go through the cycle. (What about a little Bio Spira boost?)

I wouldn't mind trying some Bio-Spira, as I'm gonna have to use it for the Con tank...yep, it's the Cories and "Methuselah" still, and they will be in the cooler (held from crashing by newspaper and kept separate from the equipment).

That substrate idea makes sense...I will work hard to make sure that I don't mix layers. Thanks for the help, Wetman! :)

Out of curiosity, is there any chance that the semi-dormant bulbs with a few spindly, tiny roots are worth salvaging? Should I just throw 'em in with the gravel and see what happens when I get home?
