OK, yet another obstacle in my way...

so I have run into a major problem...
well since I do not have enough room on the back of aquarium, I was thinking of just placing the bio-filter on the side. but if I do that then the all-glass hood I wanted to get will technically not work since the way it would sit in the aquarium would not work because the glass would be in the way. Is there another way to make this work? or am I going to have to find a new place for aquarium?

(I have a 55Gal and I already have the light so all I was going to get was 2 of the all-glass 24" hoods.)
 
Can it be pulled out 4" from the wall ? ....:)
 
Get two pieces of glass cut at your local glass place that fit the distance front to back instead of side to side like the normal glass tops do. Measure to see how much clearance you need for filter. Have them cut two pieces half the length of the inside edge side to side minus the space you need for the filter.

the place i have tank now is on bricks, the rest of apartment is all carpet.
I could move the tank, but I think I will look into this other option, with the glass being cut correct. (it cold still open/shut, or actually it wouldn't have to open/shut on the side at all, just the other side at least and it would work huh?)
 
We have ours on carpet with no problems, i just used leveling wedges to even it out, the glass method sounds like it would work also....:)
 
yes, but $$$ is kinda an issue, maybe i will just move all my tanks out of frontroom and put them all in the spare bedroom...
well, I like the idea of a tank in the frontroom tho...
 
So, keep the tank in the front room. I like having my 46 gallon aquarium in my front room. I like the idea about the glass. It sounds like it will work. When there is a will, there is a way. You will figure it out.
