my ludwigia repens are growing great. i've have about 8 stems in my tank and trimmed them because they were starting to grow out of the tank. the parts that i trimmed were long enough to re-plant to grow and are doing great. but the place were i trimmed from the original stems aren't growing, they just sprout new branches and are growing out from different places. they are in need of a trim again and i don't want to trim them where they won't grow anymore. also they have little roots growing down from some stem corners, are these ok to trim as well?

i trim the column roots from my ludwigia weekly.. and i find the best thing to do with a trimmed plant that has shoots growing out the sides is to uproot it, and bury the parent plant in the substrate, with the shoots sticking up. makes for fast propagation if you want it that way. if you dont want any MORE plants, just to trim, then just uproot the original plant and re-plant the top cutting where it was.

My ludwigia are good growers, I just let them grow out of the tank now, which makes them even better growers. Beautiful reds on the emergent leaves.
J double R, you plant your trimmed roots upside down?

no no... its just that when i have one big ugly plant thats been trimmed a few times, and it has 6 or 8 pretty stems growing sideways, i bury the parent plant so the shoots are growing up, and i have 8 more plants than i started with. :)

Oh, sweet, I get it. Great idea, might have to try that.

This is the hardest site I have ever seen to get on! The message keeps popping up that I have not posted a note... well, I just 'stumbled' onto this one, so maybe someone can tell me the secret. huh"
