I've played around with a 5 gallon in my office now for about a year. Looking for something bigger but not to big for my house. What you anyone on here suggest for a whole setup for around 25-30 gallons. Please include everything I would need. Tank, filter, brand name, etc.

Thanks

go as big as you can. a 30 gallon long will do great if thats all you want.

for filters, you can either go with a penguin 150 on each end, or a penguin 350 in the middle. both would be adequate filtration for the tank. if you want to ahve live plants, it is easier to go with a canister filter.

What about Aquarium brands or best place to find nice ones for the price? What about the Nano Cube, I've heard they get hot though. I'm looking for something that is easy to setup but I can have freedom to choose also. Maybe that would be the perfect system I guess, but I'm interested in everyones opinion and what they have seen.

All glass aquariums is a good brand. Take a look and see what you can find. I have a 25 gallon aquarium that I just love. It seems to be the perfect size for an office depending of course on the size of the office and the fish you intend to keep in such a tank. What fish are you thinking about for this tank? Do you plan on going with a planted setup or something different? For a planted tank, I would recommend an eheim classic 2213 or 2215 canister filter. They are a bit pricey but hey, you only get what you pay for. I have the eheim classic series running on two of my tanks and they have been running flawlessly to date for years now. If you do not plan on a planted tank, then I would suggest a HOB filter from the aquaclear series. Possibly an aquaclear 30 on each side or you can do a penguin filter by Marineland such as the penguin 350 by itself or penguin 150s one on each side. I have a penguin 350 going on my 25 gallon tank and it is more then adequate for filteration. However, I do like the idea of duel filters. If one should shut down for any reason, then you still will have one filter going still for your fishie friends.

Just some thoughts. Hope this helps.

Here's options for tanks:

24" 25 gallon (24"L x 12"W x 20"H)
30" 29 gallon (30"L x 12"W x 18"H)
24" 30 gallon show (24"L x 12"W x 24"H)
36" 30 gallon (36"L x 12"W x 16"H)
36" 30 (actually closer to 35) breeder (36"L x 18"W x 12"H)

These tanks, along with stands and canopies or full hoods with lighting can be obtained from your LFS. Pick the one you like dimension wise. You can also pick up whichever type of gravel you like; 2 or 3 20lb bags should do.

I'd recommend purchasing from Drsfosterandsmith.com:
Aquaclear 110 filter
Chemi-pure Filter medium
Visi-therm Deluxe 150 watt heater
Ammo-Lock 16oz water conditioner
Jungle 5-in-1 Complete test kit

This would get you started in the right direction.

i would suggest aquasafe water conditioner its cheap and effective

I'm a Prime fan...used to use aquasafe...Prime stretches a lot further and detoxes ammonia & nitrite as well as chlorine & chloramine...I would reccommend you go with Prime.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about Prime, just don't have any experience with it. We have chloramine treated water here and a lot of products do NOT handle both chlorine and chloramine.
