i think when I first started up my tank it lasted about a week and a half to two weeks.
when it covered my sand, my hermits ate up every bit of it. haven't had any problems with it since.

Can you give us a bit more info. How long has your tank been set up and what are your water readings?
It's a 29gal, 30lbs live rock Aquaclear hob filter AquaClear 30 power head. It has been up since March. Just upgraded the lighting last month to a Coralife Lunar aqualight. We have 2 damsels (I know bad), a bi-color blenny, one Skunk cleaner shrimp, 3 hermits, 2 cerith snails and 3 nassarius snails. Water params are temp 78.7, ammonia 0, trites 0, trates 10, ph 8.2.
