This might not related to Aquatic Plants but does anyone know how to grow these things? I buy them in a nicely bunched up pots, and they keep going yellow, the stem and leaves everything, I just put them in water and a bit of fertilizer tabs. Am I doing something wrong? They needs soil?

lol, well we have 3 chineese bambo in a vase on our dinner table, only thing you need to do is change the water weekly. Why add crap like tablets, plants were made enough just for water itself and carbon dioxide :). (As for the bambos condition) - They are growing rapidly and even the roots are climbing out.. :p

My bamboo loves tank water especially water from a freshly squeezed AC 500 sponge. I noticed a significant improvement in its growth when i began using this kind of water....

true, because the water carries many nutrients. Chemicals and fertilization tablets, etc are not native as a source of health to the plants in the wild. My only bet would be why would the plant benefit. Sometimes plants just need to be left basic in order to thrive.
