View Full Version : Had a weird dream about my fish

Okay only a true fish lover could relate to this! Last night I dreamed I was looking in my tank and noticed my Cory cat had another fishes's tail coming out of it's butt...I made a comment to the effect of "Oh my God, he's pooping out another fish!" when my husband corrected me and said "No, he's eating another fish, they eat from their bottom..." Then to my horror I noticed the fish in his rear was one of my Gold Ram Cichilds! I watched in total shock and disgust as my Ram slowley got slowly devoured by the Cory's butt!
Next thing I know, he goes over to the other Ram and sucks him right up too...Now I was freaking and I start yelling to my husband, "He's possesed! Go get the Alka-Seltzer, we have to kill him!" My husband was now entertaining guests and ignoring me. I got a chair and stood on it looking for the Alka-seltzer in my linen closet...I finally found it, but it was in the form of a big oblong stick  . When I got back to the tank I noticed the Cory had now started eating my Gourami's. Just as I had the net ready to scoop him up, he keeled over and died. At that point he didn't even look like a fish, but rather some kind of big insect. Quite grotesque looking. I remember thinking he must've got some kind of disease that made him go evil.
Anyone care to analyze that one?  I should add that I partook in a few too many drinks yesterday (of the alcoholic persuasion).

lol i have had a crazy fish dream too that had to do with my cory cat. Well if i remeber right in my dream i was watching the discovery channel and they showed a special cory that shot acid out of its belly it had for small red holes on its stomach and the top part of the cory was green. Then i went to look at my aquarium and it was killing all my fishies! shooting acid at them and attaching itself to them and hitting them with acid!!! then..... i dont rember any more :( thats all i remeber about it i think I woke up. Then i rember another dream when i was at this foreign well that had been divided into little sections in each section there was a special fish. I saw a fish that looked like a stingray so i got it and a bunch of others the next morning i looked in my aquarium and they weren't there :( lol well those ar emy fish dreams that i remember :D

I think that I dreamt that my roomie moved my fish to a 2-1/2 gallon tank so he could keep a lobster in my tank.
I don't know, TeaPea, the alcohol may well have had something to do with that dream...not sure if it has any meaning except that you secretly hate your Cory! Okay, J/K, not sure what the meaning would be.

Holy cow Swedish Fish! I wonder if Cory Cats have some kind of special "dream" symbolism. If you've ever read a book about dream interpretation certain things are universally symbolic of other things--for example they say dreaming about snakes symbolizes fear, dreaming of dogs symbolizes loyalty...so far I haven't seen killer Cory Cats mentioned in any dream book...it's just weird that we both dreamed about Cory Cats in particular!
And Childawg, I sure hope your dream about all your fish being moved to a 2.5 gall doesn't come true!!!
I have to stop drinking ;)

Oh, don't worry...I'll "take care" of the lobster if it ever did come true...;)

You know you're a fish nerd when you have dreams about them. I had one not to long ago about a flying emperor angel and I shot it with my super soaker with freshwater and it turned black and melted. Good times...

No way! I thought I was the only one!
I had a dream my betta was a spaceship and that it was attacking my neighbourhood with lazers and stuff.
I woke up and realised I had been sleeping with my eyes open looking at my tank, and the movement of the spaceship in my dream was really the movement of the betta in the tank!
Now thats nuts.

Uh, Roland, that doesn't sound like a dream...sounds more like a bad trip on LSD.

That's so funny that you guys also have dreams about your fish. Some of your's are as bizzar as mine!
I had a dream about finding some type of wood platform similar to a backyard patio deck (don't ask  ).....Anyways, I needed to powerwash it and spray pesticide on it to make sure it was free of bugs and rodents and such ( )......I started using this highly toxic insecticide and spraying it all over the platform and as I moved around it the bugs I was killing became fish! ( )......I ended up realizing that I was spraying the fish also. I mean these were the most beautiful fish I'd ever seen. Their colors were amazing, but they were not "real" fish. These fish somehow were floating around the deck and climbing all over it! ( ).....I ended up waking up feeling really bad for killing all these fish instead of taking them home with me. It seemed like everytime I saw a new fish, I had accidentally just sprayed it with some pesticide!
Horrible, Horrible dream! ;)
I had been spraying my plants about two days before with some bug killer and I'm sure this is what started this nightmare. I actually almost did get some in a large "bucket" that I'm doing an experiment with fish in.

I've had 3 dreams now where I had fish that could swim in the air and I was always putting them back into tanks where it was warmer and safer for them.

OMG! I had a similar dream, long, long ago when I was in college. I had guppies in a ten-gallon tank in my dorm room. I dreamed that I walked into my room after class one day to find the aquarium cover open and all of the fish swimming around in the air. They were having a big happy time, until they saw me. They all got these sheepish looks on their faces, and I told them sternly, "all right, you guys, back in the tank." They turned around and lined up, and one by one went plop back into the water.
Bee-zarre!
(Of course, there's my recurring nightmare, which has nothing to do with fish... I have to get to Target in a rowboat to get sour cream... I can hear the oars scraping on the pavement, for I'm not in water but on the street in front of my ex-girlfriend's house....)

It must be something about cories.
I've had several dreams with cories over the years, but the one I remember best runs steals some plot from the children's picture book by Helen Palmer, "A Fish Out of Water."
I'm swimming in my house (yes, you read that right) and my little cories keep swimming by me... but each time they swim by they get bigger... I can only remember up until they got football size.
Most of my other fish dreams usually involve tank disasters (earthquakes mostly)

Nippy, I've had dreams like that as well...but in my dreams, my tanks looked nothing like my real tanks, neither do the fish. I've had dreams were my fish seemed to be swimming around the house. I know I dream about fish alot, cause I remember dreaming about them, but I can never remember details...just certain images. I dream about water quite a bit...most of the time involving the ocean, tidal waves(love those dreams)..amazing imagery and I usually seem to enjoy watching massive waves coming in and me trying to ride them..lol. On a down side though, some of my other "water" dreams involve an over flowing toilet(s)...I wont go into details here:(

Most of my fish tank dreams have been disasters.(like for instance. tornado comes. tank is hurled throught the air lands on the gorund. and BLAM..EEEEk!!! then i wake up ) I remember 1 where where i had i 29 gallon tank. I had just brought home two fishes from a creek. my dream was that they had dissapeared. and i couldn`t find them.then one night before i went to bed. ( i lived in a mnsion ???) This big snake like creature came up out of my gravel. and got one of my fish in its mouth then pulled it back under then gravel. I was like OMG that how the mature species of that fish looks!!!(im still in dream) then i wake up. . That was a wild dream. And i had another where. i had a 125g tank full of all the fish i could dream ofwith the last spiecies of some bottom feeder(porbably a clownloach) on earth. the tank fell to the floor and shatterd. then my house collapsed . and i woke up. lol. finally had a fish dream, sort of. in the dream i stopped at a fish store and bought i little itty bitty live elephant [fit in the palm of my hand]. and brought in home and threw it in a fish tank. it swam around and seemed pretty happy. a while later i started thinking about it and took it out of the fish tank and set it on the counter and it ran around like a little puppy. without waking up i started wondering: why did i put it in the fish tank? and why have i never seen an elephant this small before? how big was it going to get?
would i need a bigger tank or can this elephant survive out of the water?
dont remember much after that.

I had a dream that my fish tank was full of air and my house was filled with water. Then I realized I was in my fish tank, and my fish were swimming in my house. For some reason at the time that seemed pretty logical:rolleyes:.Then the dorbel rang and the fish opened the door andsome more fish came in with a box of pizza then they started feeding me the pizza when i woke up.:p

This is my dream also. I will be sitting there eating or watching TV and one of my piranhas will come air swimming up to me or I will walk into a room and there they are air swimming and enjoying the freedom. I then have to grab them (behind the mouth of course to keep from getting bit ya know) and return them to the tank. A few minutes later there they are again. (I never think to find a way to secure the tank lid) I sometimes wake up tired because I never get a chance to relax in my dream. The first thing I do in the morning is go over to my aquarium and give my fish a dirty look for causing me so much work,;)

Freud would say our dream fishies somehow represent our sexual insecurities!
I used to dream about my plecos swimming out of the tank and swimming around the room. They always wanted to do this at night and I would have to tell them to go bed.
I now dream horrible nightmares about my tank leaking or busting, or my sister killing all of my fish just to be mean. Sometimes I dream about looking into my tank and seeing fish that I used to have swimming happily beside fish I now have or will have.
I almost always dream about having a 55 gal. sitting where my entertainment center is. Sadly, I wake up and have nothing but my boring tv.
