I am building my 30G FOWLR and 20GSump based on recommendations and suggestions by all here.

My two Mag 5 pumps both went bad from my LFS. The one purchased from Petsmart.com (Pondmaster 5) is working like a charm - albeit a bit loud for my tastes.

I am using the DIY PVC 1" Overflow with a Ball valve to limit the "gurgling" and "bubling" noises. It is painted black for the wife! Looks nice (used Fusion). I aslo put some netting over the intak to prevent any critters / fish getting sucked in. Thanks for the ideas!!!!

I am using a 1" PVC return per suggestions by JoJo. The 1/2" I did us possibly caused the failure of my two LFS pumps. So much information unaware of. Thanks and kudos to y'all.

My DIY sump is almost done too, silicone just has to cure and set. Will be putting in LS and LR and maybe some algae (have to read up on it). Once all is together I will do some wet runs with normal FW.

This weekend I will be going to Indianapolis for LR and sand (not live). I will get my seed from a LFS here. Then onto cycling!!!!

Fish plans are two clowns, a goby and something else - I think.

Thanks to all who have posted and helped me directly!!!!!
