View Full Version : Swimming pool size by gallons??

How many gallons would you guys say a swimming pool thats 15 feet across and about 4 and a half feet deep holds. Its an above ground standard circle shape if that helps any. My girlfriends parents have an old one that they are getting rid of that I was thinking of using it to go crazy with some central american cichlids.

Radius: 7.5' = 90"
Height: 4.5' = 54"
Pi * R * R * H = 1473130 cu. in. = 5948.63 gallons
Is it the same width across the pool at the bottom as it is at the top? If so, then this is the correct answer.

also be careful with the liner, when the liner dries out it shrinks.
we had this problem when we emptied our pool to clean it out.
