Looks like you've got the potential of a great reef there.

NICE!
i think a hawk, basslet, or squirrelfish would do really nice in a setup like that.

I am thinking about getting some more rock an piling it in front of the back section so I can tier corals etc when I get to that point?

What do you think since you seem to have quite a bit of experiece in this field.

I have been looking at a hawk, but there are so many choice and things that I can do.. And I really haven't nailed it all down yet.. But I have time, I'm cycling.. :)

That's looking mighty fine!

Thank you.

Here is some pic of some new additions to the tank.. My two clown fish (Lenny and Squiggy) took a while to become accustomed to their new home. But now that they know they have it to themselves, they are crusing around checking out all the rock..

The snails took to home right away, burring themselves in the sand. I was able to capture one out on the hunt for food since the bed doesn't have a lot of organic matter yet..

Are both of those Perculas? The far one looks like an Ocellaris. Maybe just the angle.

No, one is a Perc and one is an Ocellaris.. My LPS only had these two and they have been screaming at me for the last month to buy them.. <grin>

Thanks Niko.. I appreciate it.. So in your experiece do you think I am going to get tank raised to take to a BTA? Or am I going to throw money away on that one?

Nice tank...........:grinyes:

Thank you sir..

Ok.. So here are some updates on my tank.. Not a lot as I have been still deciding what to add for fish/corals.. But I think my sump has started to take off, but you guys tell me.

I currently have one of my turbo snails in there, but should I put other inverts/snails?

I also have included a full shot of the tank, but that really hasn't changed a lot.

looks pretty sweet, how are the clowns doing?

There is of course no guarantee that the clowns will host...However, you can tempt them into the nem by getting them to follow a turkey baster with food in it...and draw them into the nem...after a few times of doing this, it will raise the possibility of them hosting.....this way has worked for many many people...

Sump is looking good..How much live rock do you have in there? and what sizes are the chunks?

Full tank shot shows its looking excellent...

Keep the hard work going and it will turn into a stunning marine system..

The Clowns (Lenny and Squiggy) are doing really well. In fact you can see Lenny in the shot.. Squiggy was behind a rock at the time. He has a tendancy to be shy towards the camera. And Edna (Golden Head Sleeper Goby) has really started redecorating my substrate :) , but she is camera shy as well. She always comes out at feeding time though, and once in a while to check out whats on the Tele.

I am still working on a list of what I want to get for fish.. Unfortunately I always come back to either a Dwarf Angel or Flame Angel and I do want to do corals.. So I guess I am going to have to start getting the corals next and then try and introduce a juvenile one of those last(haven't decided which but the flame is winning) to the tank and hopefully they won't pick..

The two you see towards the front are a couple of 1 1/2 to 2 pounders, I then have a five and change pounder and four and change pounder hidden behind the cheato. I really can't get a good angle on the sump and show what I wanted to show.

As far as the Anemonie goes, I know that the clowns probably won't host as they were both tank raised. But thanks for the good info. I really have been looking at a Rose BTA that a fish store has (Its up the road about 90 miles) and really do want one, but am thinking that I will get some other stuff first. I have done extensive reading on the nem, and while my levels have been rock solid constant at Ph 8.3, Alk 8 dKh, Amm 0, Ites 0, Ates <= 5ppm I haven't been able to get those Ates under 1pmm. So I am going to hold off for now. So I am going to start looking at getting some more types of salt water plants in hopes that they will use up the Nitrates. (unless you have some better ideas). I want to have reef stats before I start adding reef animals.

The nice part is that the white flakey stuff I asked you about a while back is starting to disappear, and I think more to the cause of my Turbo's eating the diatoms algae off the LR than anything else... But I am starting to see the coraline algae again... So things are slowly progressing, and I am going to take it slow as well. I want this tank to be something that can last, not something that is going to crash.

Well you know.. If you lived closer to North Dakota instead of the country of my fore-fathers I'd be willing to send you a frag or two once I get them going...

Well we bought LaVerne Yesterday.. She has acclimated and has started swimming a little from behind my live rock hidey holes.. I have been watching her for several weeks at my LPS but am not sure what that stripe is running down her side.. I'm hoping its not HLLE.. And you can see the whitish area around its belly that I had previously talked about.

At the LPS she ate well, she is eating well in mine and in fact is quite a little pigglet.

I don't think it's HLLE. But the color is poor. To get a better color on her try a varied diet of high quality foods.

That is their fright stripe. It is more visible at night or in times of stress. I do agree with Joe, make sure you give the tang lots of nori and other vegetation, the color looks a bit off unless it it the camera.

I am hoping that the off color is simply due to the change in scenery. He has been in the same tank at the LPS for like two months or better. I have that seaweed blend (Norri stuff), but what other vegetation should I feed?? Broccoli?

What I have read is basically Nori type stuff and they will pick at other food offered your other fish.

Here is the full tank shot.. Nothing has really changed that way am hoping to look at some corals soon.. BTW also bought a digital therm.. Checking it against my old doesn't rely on a battery therm... ;)

I feed mine Nori on a clip and Ocean Nutrition II. He also eats meaty foods with the goby but I try to feed him the algae stuff first so he gets a good amount of that.

I know some try terresterial greens like lettuce and blanced broccoli but I had decided to stick with marine greens. As an experiement however we put 2 small leaves of romaine on the clip this past week. My son and I were in tears from laughing so hard. The fish were terrified of those stupid little pieces of lettuce. Hiding in their pvc caves. The tang would come out flaring and then run back to his cave. It was hysterical, who would have thought lettuce could be so intimidating?

We'll stick to our original plan of serving only marine greens.

Also if you soak the food in a good supplement like selcon it will help, I have also found that most any fish will eat cyclops-eeze

Jojo, do you use the frozen cyclo? I've been using the granules and the fish go nuts for it.

I have looked for cyclopseeze around here but can't find it.. Not PetCo, PetSmart or the good LFS.. I might have to run up the river to Grand Forks to see if I can find it there..

Selcon is that the whole name? Who makes it?

Yep I keep a huge bar of frozen at all times.
