According to this site...
http://www.skepticalaquarist.com/docs/behavior/schooling.shtml
there is a difference. Also,
"A shoal can be defined as a social group produced by individual fish choosing to stay with their fellows. Schooling is a type of shoaling that is defined by the types of highly synchronised and polarised behaviour exhibited by shoaling fish, usually under threat from predators."
^ info from some scientific study by Sarah Morgan whoever that is...

When a blonde moment attacks and I can't remember how to spell shoal...it becomes school.
