i have been starting to search LPS for the fish i want to stock in my upcoming tank and am having a hard time finding the bristlenose catfish
i found two at one local store and they wanted 25 bucks, is that average?

That seems really expensive to me, even for a large specimen. I paid about 10 bucks for my Bristles (RIP).

I never see them around here either.
lots of commons, lots of albinos, few gold nuggets, a few royals.
Ask a mom and pop store and see if they can order one for you.

You can Get high quality ones from TTA...TwoTankAmin! Send him a PM. He breeds them as well as breeds Zebra Plecos. I just one a Zebra pleco from a drawing. He sent me 2 albino Bristle nose plecos. They came very well packaged and very healthy! Just go to the members list click T and hes on page 127 of the t's!

thanks for the links
the ones I found were from the mom and pop shop and were only 1.5 inches or so
i will check those out and call other shops locally to see if they can be ordered

ok animal jungle had some in for ten bucks so i have one albino and want to get a black one when they come in
so excited!!!!
but heres a question thats going to sound weird, is there another name for the keyhole cichlid, was looking for some and could not find any at the local stores??
i got my 4"er for 15 bucks.

Keyholes are pretty hard to find around here. :( I don't know of another common name. Have you asked your local fish store if they can order some? They are really neat fish, worth searching for.

Yeah none of the local shops carry them here either, so I'm having one of the smaller pet stores order for me. Apparently the demand for them isn't high, and the smaller shop owner told me that she often has trouble finding a tank to put them in.

okay the LPS will order them for me, phew
then the young kids comment was 'why would you want those anyway'
and i explained how they were docile community fish which can be hard to find with cichlid.
and he told me 'i thought all cichlids were good community fish'
aah kids these days
