Just came across a 30g rubber maid bucket to do water changes with. It has been used to store stuff in the kids room but would be much more useful for my water changes i think. I was wondering if bleach is a viable solution to clean it out with and if so what should the ratio of bleach to water be? any help would be much appreciated.

When we got our new 29 gallon, I used just soap and hot water in the bathtub...used the shower head to fill it up and washed it out, then dumped out the soapy water and let the shower run very hot water into the tank to further clean it...

but anyway...

it would be 15 cups vinegar to 30 gallons water in the rubbermaid (1/2 cup v. to 1 gallon w.)

When I was in the military and we were out of chlorine tablets we used 8 drops of regular clorox bleach per gallon to make water drinkable.. I think if you put a half a cup into the container full, and then rinse it a couple of times you should be safe.

I used white vinegar to clean my stuff with and Milton (sterilising fluid for babies bottles etc) for the water butt I use to mix my water in.
