I have a pair (male/female) of these fish. My work collegue thinks they will eat other fish in a community tank.
I cannot remember the name from when i bought them but the lady at the lfs said they are ok to go in a community tank.

Can anyone identify them please, any info appreciated.

Some kind of apisto? If it is, they are kind of gentle, unless breeding. I don't think that it will eat what's in your tank.

You should be able to identify it here...

They look like apistogramma cacatuoides to me, both males I think.

Fishorama is correct with the ID but the fish on the right in the second picture is a female. I do not think you would have any problems with keeping the pair in a community tank as long as there is enough room to prevent territory issues.

its definately a apistogramma cacatuoides most likley double red variation. They are very cool fish to keep!

If the male gets a little rough try picking up another female. The apistos in this group work best in a harem :)
