Hi All,

I have a pair of convicts and they have successfully laid eggs and hatched many times. My daughter had the pair for a while and now I have them in a 30 gallon tank all alone. I have a log that she lays eggs in and I see the fry wiggling and then nothing. I can't see any Fry now. The female is still in the log and the male seems to be swimming around the outside of the log like he is protecting the space. Am I just missing the baby Fry or are they eating them? Everything I read about them, they are awesome parents but I am not seeing this. I'm a bit frustrated. Once I see Fry should I take the parents out of the tank? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They just picked up the wigglers and put them out of site. Soon you'll see a cloud of fry swimming around their parents. The parents will constantly be grabbing them up and spitting them out where they want them. I've never experienced any of my many pairs of convicts over the years eat their fry, so don't worry.

my dads convicts have recently bred and i have found that they are very good at hiding them, earlier i thought that alot of the fry had been eaten but then i seen a big bunch of them. you might see they convicts putting the fry into there mouths but they do this to move them around.

They're teaching them how to play hide 'n seek.
