All day, everyday, as much as you can get.....

The drink.

I think I have a serious problem with this drink. When I'm thirsty I crave coke, I NEED coke.... I have no desire for water, and only "settle" for it, when no coke is around.

When I do get it, I instantly feel refreshed, and better.... until its gone, then I need more.
I'll crack a cold one when I wake up, and have 2 more to wash it down with.

I Feel happy once having consumed a can, or glass, or swig from a bottle.

Last weekend, I drank 3 gallons of coke in 2 days..... and I usually average about a gallon a day.

Does anyone else have this problem, or have I copped a genuine addiction?? my biggest problem is suffering from acid reflux, which could have been caused by all the coke i drink, or simply just be agitated by it. I have tried not drinking it, I still get heartburn bad.

i know a guy who does the same thing with dr. pepper..

you don't have diabetes yet? you have a serious addiction, if not just to the sugar, then DEFINITELY to the caffeine. im willing to bet that if you went more than a day without it you would have a most splitting headache.

I once drank two twelve packs in a week. I got a kidney infection from it. Be careful with that.

Of course, I'm not 19 anymore either... sigh.

dude your defiently an addict. I would be scared for my teeth and afraid to get diabetes. That stuff is so bad for your teeth, it is disguesting. I know when I start to crave pop, then I know it's time to detox and I don't drink it for a week. Strictly on water and juice, or soy milk. I start to get very sick when I only drink pop, when I go to visit my cousin in the country their water is more chlorine in it and it is gross so I do not drink tap water so the only left to drink is coke and I get so sick.

Since I work at Pepsi, its sort of my duty to be a pepsi addict. LOL

I drink 3 tall glasses per day.

I used to be helplessly addicted to Coke and Dr. Pepper. Then I gave up soda. Then, a couple years later, I decided that I would allow myself to drink Diet Coke only when bourbon was involved (the weekends, mostly).

Its funny you should say that... I do go days without, and dont usually get a headache, and sugar isnt a problem, I dont find myself craving sugary things... nor caffine perse.

HOWEVER, Since I was about 14 (LONG before this little addiction) I have gotten splitting migranes which will go so far as to cause neasua, vommiting, and in worst case scenarios, temporary paralysis (until the headache subsides, which doesnt happen without MASS dosages of advil/IB)

I dont drink as much caffine as i used to... IE I drink less coffee per day, and dont feel that I NEED a coffee/caffine during the day.... only in the morning when I wake up. (coffe first then coke... unless it was a hot night, then the morning calls for a COLD COLD coke)

I think im addicted to the taste, and crispness of it all.
Pepsi i find absolutly disgusting (sorry LF) and diet coke is terrible... tastes like... (something i cant say here)

Otherwise im a fairly hardy individual, My teeth arent in terrible shape, although they have some problems caused by smoking, and honestly years of not brushing.
It was until recently that I started brushing my teeth everyday in the morning.
they arent as yellow anymore, and they arent by any means rotted/ing
I still have all my teeth, although I do have a few filled in cavaties, and one half missing tooth way at the back (stupid dentist said it was fine)

Im not overly fat, though i do have a few extra pounds, I am naturally a large guy, and have lost much weight since I started my new job, and STOPPED working in a kitchen :D

I may have an addicition, but i am just as surprised as you guys are that im not dead, still have my teeth, dont have diabtes, and am not disgustingly fat.

when I start to get hooked on caffeine, I switch to carrot juice for the next few days, and that usually kills the urge for some reason.

one thing I can reccomend is trying seltzer water... I like it mixed with pomegranite juice, but in general I like it because it has the crispness of other beverages, but it's still just water.

I love coke, too. I wake up and drink them. I hate water. I know I had a problem with the too many a day deal so I tried to stop. Yup, splitting headaches. I have learned to lesson them. My teeth are great. Nothing happens unless you stop brushing them, duh! Drink through a straw though to prevent the staining so much. Good luck with lessoning. I am doing better. Down to super sweet tea! Ha! And of course cokes, but not as many. You arent alone. Its better than smoking,eh?!

I used to down a good 6 litres (1.6 gallons) daily, but then I met a chap that used to do around the same that seriously damaged his stomach doing so (ended up with surgery and a very restricted diet)...I thought about that and all the sugar that I was consuming (about 2400 calories daily), and quit cold-turkey for about a year...now I drink about 0-500ml daily, depending on the day.

As far as the caffiene goes, 250ml (a cup) of Coke contains about 1/3 the caffiene as 250ml of average coffee....so coffee is potentially far more addictive chemically.

I do like my coffee, 24/7 but not so much for the caffeine (if it's not to my taste I simply dont drink it... and no I dont like starbucks they burn the hell out of the beans). the only cola I do is the uncola... and now that they changed it (all natural or something) I'm not much of a fan of 7up anymore

1) Headaches - see a doctor. Imitrex>>Advil, especially in large doses, especially if your stomach is not made of cast iron.

2) Addiction - yes, it's to caffeine. Your craving of the taste, crispness etc. is the result of operant conditioning. (But I'd rate the caffeine addiction among the least of the problems you've mentioned.)

3) Get a new dentist, please keep brushing (members of the fair sex like clean teeth).

4) You're pretty young. You will find it tougher and tougher to stay thin & toothy as you get older and continue to drink too much cola.

5) Heartburn - mention this (and your coke/cig habits) to the doctor when you address item 1 above. You'll get your butt chewed, but then you already know that you've earned a bite mark or two, don't you. Coke (with its well buffered pH of ~4.5) and large doses of ibuprofen are both horrible things to do to a touchy stomach.

It is a real problem. I thought my mom was crazy for telling me not to drink Coke, but it turns out she wasn't really. Lucky you're not as susceptible to osteoperosis as women are (but men do get it), and the bones we have at this age are the bones we'll have in our 50's and 60's. Even now, if I drink more than about a glass a day, I have serious issues with joint pain and stiffness.

Not to mention... I think the stuff is pure evil. You can't EVER get enough of it. And it's reported to leach calcium from bones, further weakening them. (Hope you take calcium? O.o at 3 gallons a day or whatever it was.) And all that sugar...

I also wonder how well you sleep... that much consistent caffeine...

Here's my alternative when I'm trying to diet/detox down (which can include most caffeine and especially high fructose corn syrup...) get Club Soda and either pure cranberry (not Ocean Spray), or canned Pineapple Juice and make your own Pop.

It's real yummy and refreshing!

I am a Coke addict though. I have to really be careful. Without even knowing, I'm up to 4 or 5 glasses. I'd NEVER drink that much water back to back without noticing!!! I also think you are right - Coke is the Anti-Water. When I don't drink it, I do drink water. When I'm on the stuff, water is the last thing I want. We're talking like maybe ONE glass of water across 4 or 5 days. Which is not good when you consider that drinking Coke actually robs you of hydration, and your supposed to drink a whole glass of water to one Coke!

I'm so bad, I have no problems drinking Coke of any kind, RC, Sam's Club, America's Choice, Faygo, and I drink it warm, flat, and even watered down. THAT's desperation. *lol*

Have I mentioned that I also drink as much milk as I do coke, by the gallon..... daily, when its available, and for pretty much the same reasons.

I have drank an entire bag in one sitting at times (yes us Canadians have milk in bags.... google it and stop bugging me aboot it :))

I dont think I have an iron stomach, but in hindsight, I dont think i drink a gallon a day, but i will easily drink at least 3L in a matter of an hour or two.

Dunno about anyone else, but I consume a good 3000mg+ of caffiene (equivalent to about 6.5 gallons of Coke) each day and sleep like a baby whenever I choose to (including afternoon naps).
