alright, i would like to have a 29g planted sump for my 125g along with 2 marineland emperor 400's. will this be enough filtration for characins or discus? should i have some more bio media in the sump? the main tank won't have a whole lot for plants. would a deep snad/gravel bed in the sump help?
the other thing problem i have is my pH, it's too high. it's the opposite problem i had with my saltwater tank. PH is 7.6-7.7 right out of my RO/DI. it's fed by well water from a farm, so the nitrates are naturally pretty high. my LFS guy reccommended putting peat moss in the sump to help lower the ph. will this work? i was also going to add some driftwood. any help is appreciated. thanks!
