I've been unsuccessful in finding a DIY light guide that would work for me or fixing my existing light (its just way to corroded - its dead). So I'm getting a used JBJ formosa DX with new bulbs (2x96) for $75 to replace my dead lights. It doesnt come with a stand. I always have the option to hang it over the tank from the ceiling, but I'm trying to come up with alternatives. Heres the reason: The light is 36". My tank is 39" or so (I measured again last night). Most legs/stands I've found for any type of 36" light won't expand so they wouldn't fit my tank. However, I dont want a 48" that will hang over the side, which has been suggested to me. I can't find any measurements on the DX stand that would indicate how far it will expand. I can always make my own legs, I guess, depending on how crafty I wanna get. Any advice/suggestions? My head is about to explode after all this lighting drama!

Hanging would probally be the easiest and least expensive.

If you buy quality material and take your time you can make hanging lights look really sweet!!
