Hi everyone

My friend has bought some scallops for his sw tank but he doesnt know what do they feed on. I was hoping that you guys might know a little. At the same time, he noticed that they dont fancy brightly lit plaves but could not confirm. Hope that some one will be able to share some knowledge on this . Thanks

Scallops are filter feeders--they extract little particles and plankton from the water column. Not easy to feed, since they need to feed constantly, through out the day, to avoid starving. They will usually get by in large, well established tanks with careful feeding of a good invert formula. No, they tend to prefer being stashed away, where they can feed undetected (and un-harrassed) by fish.
