I've kept freshwater for a few years now and want to move into Marines. I have a 5 uk gallon tank and want to set it up as a nanoreef, can you advise me of what to stock and if i can include any fish??
I need as much info as i can get- what equip to use, how much LR to use, What powerhead??

Is a clown fish possible in a tank of this size!!

As I am not as experienced as many on this site I will tell you what I know to kinda get you in the right direction.

For LR you'll want 1 to 1.5 lbs. per gallon. For the most part the same goes for Live Sand too. You could do more sand if you wanted a deeper sand bed. Up to you really.

For my 10 gallon (US) I run no filtration and no skimmer (:headshake2:). It has been running for 6 years now. It's not the best looking reef by any stretch of the imagination, but I haven't put that much effort (effort=money) into it. I have a small Rio pump for circulation and I run a HOB filter without any media for extra circulation.

You'll want good lighting. Better than normal output. For a tank of that size I can't imagine lighting being that expensive. Probably Power Compacts are the way to go.

As far as a clown goes, the tank is probably too small for that. I've read on this forum that even a 10 gallon isn't sufficient for a clown. I had one for 5 years in my 10. It jumped out and died. Probably because it was sick of living in such a small tank. Loved that fish.:tombstone:

Hope that kinda helps. Someone will be along to add additional information or correct what I've said. I'm sure Niko will be loads more help than I.

Good Luck!!!
