I plan on having a 55G planted tank, heavily stocked with plants and housing about 15 - 20 fish. Most lighting systems I look up are made more for reef aquariums - too much light for a planted tank & usually with blue actinic which I've been told here isn't needed.
Do you guys knows of any good 48" hood systems that will serve up 110 to 165 watts?
Go to www.ahsupply.com. They sell retrofit kits for lights and hoods. Tim

Lights for reef aquariums will work for planted tanks. You just buy the watts you need and the bulbs (about65k) If you order with a place that the lights come with the kit, you can usally have the bulbs exchanged with the ones you need, Just have to ask.

I bought a Custom Sealife light from bigalsonline.com I've been very pleased with it. The only problem is now I want a pressurized CO2 tank & twice as much light :)
I'm hooked :)

yea, I had the same problem, tried the yeast and couldn't get anywhere! So I set up pressurized. Now I want to grow higher light plants so I got a retrofit for more lights and I'm working on making the canopy.
Will it ever end?
