post your reading for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, and what test kit you use.

how often do you clean the tank & do water changes, and how much water do you change.

has he ever done this before; sometimes fish are wierd.

ill post my readings in a little bit let me do a test as for test kits is use freshwater master test kit by aquarium pharmaceuticals inc. no this is not normal behavior for him he usually sits at the bottom chillin or he is eating the food i give him

here u go ph 6.8 ammonia .5 nitrite 0 and nitirate 10 im going to try to change the water a little and see if that helps

How long has the tank been up? What's your maintenance routine?

As for the parameter, I would do an immediate 50% Water Change (WC) to get your ammonia (0.5) down to 0.25ppm at a minimum. I should probably recommend a larger change, but do the 50% wait 3-4 hours and retest. You will probably need to do another 50% then as well...

Few, I thought he said 6.8 Ammonia :eek3:

i am almost finished with that but still doesnt any1 know wats wrong with my pleco all the other fish r fine as for maintenance i clean the tank every other week and 3 gallon water change is preformed every week filter change occurs ever 3 weeks

I would point to your high Ammonia as a culprit here. This will cause a HUGE amount of stress and will make him far more suscpetable to other ailments. In addition, any ammonia will cause perminent detrimental damage. It's simply a matter wether or not they have a high enough tolerance.

Plecos live a LONG time. Three years is young, I personally know people with plecos that are over 10yrs. Something else is getting to him and that amonia reading could be a place to start looking. Plecos are sensitive to amonia, especially if it spikes suddenly. I'm sorry without seeing him I can't tell you what exactly is going on and even then it would be 'iffy' for anyone to say.

*I'd have to agree with CT's assesment as well, much can go wrong with that amonia reading.*

*Lost track at 20 cycled 29g & up*
