I bought 2 bolivian rams today in hopes of having a pair. One is larger and paler then the other who is darker and is a little more colorful. Did I get lucky and pick a female and a male. I'll see if I can upload some pics. Thank you for all suggestions.

I'm not expert, but it sounds like you might have gotten one of each. If I remember right, the males are much more colorful than the females. The females will have a more pale gray color while the male will have various bright colors.

Except that I had a very pale one and a very colorful one and they still fought so badly I had to return one...so I am guessing I still had two males...

Hmmmm...that's too bad. When I was looking at the possibility of getting Blue Rams, I seem to remember reading that just because you have a male and female doesnt mean that they will pair off and they still may show agression toward one another. Can anyone confirm this?
