Hi guys,

I've got my hands on a 55g tank & now i'm planning the setup well before i start to drill holes eveywhere :)

This is what i've got in my mind so far. I'm still baffled about the main aquariums intake from the sump (marked red No 1). Should the return be over or under the water level? I'd prefer it to be under (to reduce noise), though if the power goes out then the excess water will drain back to the sump. any ideas?

and please comment on the setup
cheers mates

in principle, i dont see any issues...

where is the overflow drain going too? You can have the sump return intake just below the water surface, and you can also use that for surface aggitation aswell....

How is the water changer system going to be working?

Looks good. I also wonder where the water change water is going to- the sump?

That top-off container- will that be attached to the wall? Just wondering how it'll be above the sump like that?

I have seen other people who have created these, and from what I have seen you can't have the water level higher than the water level, float valve in the sump or it will continue to drain into the sump until you have a flood..

hi guys,

the auto top off will be elevated over the sump some how .. be it on a stool or on the wall, somehow i'll get it done. The top off pipe has a ball valve in the sump so it should flood, it'll just leak in water when the sump level goes down.

The auto changer will puor in water slowly when i open the tap & all the excess water will go out the drain pipe, which will be connected the the house's normal water drain.

Can i use some kind of one way valve on the main aquarium's intake?
