my dads cuban cichlids have laid there eggs on some pebbles in his tank.

its the first time for them and i think they are eating the eggs.

it seems liek they are eating the eggs which are just scattered around away from the pile, there is a group of them which i have not seem them eating yet.

i was just wondering if they will probably take a couple of trys to get it right LOL as i have heard other fish do this.

thanks
Howard.

Many cichlids take two or three tries at it before settling in.

okay now when i look closer i see that there is about 15 fry in between the gravel pile which they have built but there are still lots of eggs un hatched.
do you think that these eggs are not fertile or are they just late hatchers?

thanks
Howard

they could be unfertilized or the parents arent ready yet.

it sounds like they are trying to get the hang of breeding.
