I wasn't impressed with the Current USA brackets either. flimsy, and the screw-tighten idea is flawed, in that the plastic is too soft and strips easily.

I'd love to see machined aluminum replacements.

Yeah, its so cheap for such an expensive light.

Works tho.

one would assume engineers with said company (any company manufacturing equip for the industry for that matter) would be active in reading forums for possible improvements (hint hint to whoever may be reading).

I agree with the idea of machined aluminum. hell a peice of string on a rock is more effective!

I would at least send them a letter or e-mail, expressing your dissatisfaction, in a non-flaming way. It may not help you now, but maybe someone will benefit down the road.

I used them for a few months then built an open top canopy that the light slips in. No more problems!

I know, mines full to, been off work for several months now! Had plenty of time but with 2 surgery's on my elbow and my arm in a cast, kinda of hard to build stuff with one hand.

I was also thinking of directly bolting the light to my canopy too.

But the light was just sooo shiney i didnt want to put a hole in it...

Top is open, these fixtures get pretty hot. The light rest on 3/8" thick slats, can slide out the top of the canopy. The light fixture was not altered or drilled. Height is adjusted to clear glass top.http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z19/aquamans/canopy.jpg

Wow...

Im going to have to make some ledges now. How stupid of me to not think of that.

But i would still have problems with my varsatop hitting the ledges or light...**** il figure somthing out

Well I am now cursing the Coralife hanging bracket. Just tried to put one on my 65gal light and promptly broke one. Luckily I bought two (1 for the 65 and 1 for the 50) so now I am going to have to hit the LFS tomorrow for a new bracket. Plastic is a tad too flimsy. That and it takes a lot of work to slide the silly claw into the slot on the back of the light... however I finally got it on... only took a hammer and a lot of skin!

I had a Coralife fixture for my 55 and got rid of it because of those stupid legs. I bought a JBJ setup which I actually like better. They also have flip up legs which work great.
