This my first try at SW..I have a little of everything(read my sig), after alot of research i decided to set up a 29g..the only filtration is natural..30lbs of liverock and a DIY refugium using a aquaclear 110 HOB with macro algae and some live rock rubble..and 2 aqua clear 50 power heads for circulation..this tank has been set up for 1 month and a week. I do 20% water cahnges every week and will be getting a protein skimmer soon :D
tell me what ya think or if ya have any questions

sure..no prob :D It is an Aquaclear 110 with cheato and 1 lb of live rock rubble..siliconed the bottom of brace for sponge that came with filter to the top so macro doesn't flow into tank and put in a media bag for the whisper 10i with carbon on the left side where the baffle is and a coralife mini clamp light with a 5 watt hologen bulb that runs at night the same time as lunar lights 8pm-8am 12 hrs

The AC110 refugium was a DIY I found on nano-reef.com I thought it was a great idea and a space saver for nanos

Thanks! I added the Remora skimmer with the prefilter box and changed from the Aquaclear 50's (the fish killers) sucked up 2 clownfish and a cleaner shrimp as they have no cover for the intake, i rigged some mesh, but it slowed the flow too much and I had to be cleaning it every other day..I don't like sticking my hand in the tank needlessly..so i got 2 maxi jet 900's but am only using one as the flow is crazy with the AC 110, skimmer and the powerheads :D

Heres mt new RBTA (rose bubble tip anemone) which is hosted by my newly aquired Maroon clown..he went for it immediatley and the RBTA decided to park next to my condi anemone..it's been there for a week with no problems yet...I am keeping a close eye..I am planning a 40 gallon and hopefully they will seperate with more room..also had a Ich problem which was brought in by my Royal Gramma which is now DOA..I bought 2 neon blue cleaner gobies and started feeding garlic so far only my Clown is affected but still eating, I want to go the natural route rather than hyposalinity which will stress everyone in the tank

A refugium is used to propogate macro algae that will take up nutrients so micro algaes don't take over your display tank. They are also good for allowing pod (reef bugs) to colonize. Pods are fish candy basically. Some fish eat them instead of prepared foods.
For more info on SW come on over the marine forums here and read the stickies and ask questions.
