I haven't really gotten much feedback in the general forum, and I apologise for posting this again here... but I really am interested in your opinions on a plan for building a small filter.

I am making a 15 gallon vivarim, with about 8-9 gallons of water. initially my plan was to use a duetto filter, and hide it with slate at the bottom. everyone's been talking me out of duetto... and since i really want the ability to plumb an intake from elsewhere in the tank, I ruled it out.

A powerhead driven filter seems like the best option, and I am considering building a small acrylic box to house foam and substrate. I'm hoping to keep this all very small.

can you reccomend a tiny powerhead that I can leave submerged, that has variable flow rate? will this box idea work out? is it too small, if it's say... 5-6" long total?

Your setup is nice and all, but personally, I think its a little too much for a situation where you could just buy a regular sponge filter for.
