Between those two, I'd go with the Coralife SuperSkimmer if it were me. The AquaC Remora would be a bit small on a 75g FOWLR, especially if it was stocked more heavily than a typical reef tank. They make a SuperSkimmer that's slightly smaller than the one you linked to (a 125g model), but the price new at most retail places online for it is greater than the eBay auction you listed for the larger version.

Correction... The one you linked to on eBay is the regular venturri style SuperSkimmer, while the price I saw online for the 125g model was for one that includes a needlewheel pump. Even that seller's price for the 125g model with needlewheel pump is less than the price for the same skimmer at MarineDepot.

Between those two, I'd go with the Coralife SuperSkimmer if it were me.

I had the 125gallon rated Coralife SuperSkimmer on my 58 gallon tank. I switched to the AquaC Remora Pro with a MagDrive3 pump about a week ago and I have never been happier. Much much more skimmate, much less bubbles. No matter what mods I did on my Coralife there was always tons of bubbles in the tank.
The great thing about the AquaC is that the water level is constant. So if water evaporates out of your tank (which it will), you still get the same amount of efficiency in removing organics. With the Coralife, when the water level in the tank drops, the water level in the skimmer drops, so you lose efficiency.

the only problem I have is the remora with the magnum pump is out of my budget. I can get the remora with the maxi1200 for 163$ which is about max I can spend since I stiil have to get live rock and everything else. So its either the remora with the maxi1200, which seems like it wouldn't be enough for my tank, or the coralife with the wheel for aquariums up to 220g, which is 155$. I can't be spending 230-250$ for a skimmer. Im sure its better and Id love to have one, its just not feasible right now.

Is it possible to save up and get the better one next month?

I'm with Grins, you will really be better off buying a good one now then buying one now and then a good one later, its much cheaper in the long run if you just get a good one right off. Get the Aqua C!

after reading stuff on www.reefcentral.com it probably won't matter it seem sthat they both suck and tend to overflow. Oh well after spending all this money I guess new carpet will be part of the new equation. Sorry random frustrated rant:mad2:

Thanks I'll check that one out.
Also I fell upon this http://www.wetwebmedia.com/hang-onskimfaqs.htm
The 5th topic down a lady named clare posts a question she has a similar setup to what I want 75g etc. I also read on that site about over skimming, and how you want something that works for you tank size. He reccommends to her that she get the remora with the maxi 1200 not the one with the mag3, just wondering, I mean I dont know this person from anybody else, so he could be wrong, opinions?

Not sure about the particular expert that answered there but Bob Fenner is very respected.

uh, it is IMPOSSIBLE for the AquaC to overflow because of how it is designed. Anyone who has actually used an AquaC will tell you its better then what they had before. And he didn't advise against the MagDrive3 so don't think that either.

Aren't the Maxi pumps oil filled when the Magdrive is epoxy filled?

Ive decided to suck it up, and get the aquac with the mag drive. The other forum seems to have a number of people who hate them to death, but everything else they reccommend is life 400$, so it seems to be the best for the $. Thanks for the help:)
