I went home today for lunch to check on one of my chromis who is losing scales, so he is in quarantine. I started cleaning the filter and I took the protective piece off the intake and was adjusting the media in it while letting the bio media soak in a bucket with other various pieces. I left for 5 minutes to make a tuna sandwich and I noticed the flow had slowed down, a lot. So readjusted the media, nothing, so I started taking the filter apart. I pulled the needel wheel out and my chromis was wrapped around it!

Tough lil bugger survived life at the LFS and ich, but died from my filter :( ...

took me a moment to twigg in with the title......lol...yes, i know, am a little slow sometimes...

I had that happen to a green spotted I rescued at wallmart had him in a 2.5G BW poor lil guy I finally upgraded him to a 30 and BAMM I go do something and he was up in the filter poor guy even inflated to stay alive. AC was too much for him. sometimes I feel that I should of left him in that 2.5G he would of been alive at least. (and yes I DO realise the cause of stunning a fish (he wasnt in there but for a lil bit) and I DID get a bigger tank JUST for him so:silly: ) A true perc went down my overflows and got stuck in the sump netted him out but he never recovered, it happends but at least we learn form out mistakes, I have protective gaurds on my overflows and have a filter guard on my intakes.

Ouch. I'm really sorry about your chromis.

Yeah I have learned. I just need to shut the filter off when I'm cleaning parts of it... Makes me sad though, he was the first of the group to feed from the surface :(
