I recently purchased 5 spotted corys. All appeared to be lively and healthy.
They were put into an established 55 gal tank. One was found dead the next morning, another was dead the following day. Neither of the dead fish looked to have been attacked or injured. The other occupants of the tank are 6 Black Neons, 8 Neon Tetra, 1 Pleco 3". After a week the remaining 3 corys and all other fish in the tank were fine, so I purchased 3 more corys. The next day I found 2 more dead corys. Do these fish have a high mortality rate when being transferred from one locale to another? Both batches spent less than an hour in the transport bag they were purchased in. From start to finish of this event, all other fish in the tank remain healthy and alive. I'd like to establish a school of these corys, but its getting disappointing and expensive.
Does anyone have a suggestion for me?

Tank readings can help us out here, also talking ot the LFS and asking how their other Corys have done.

But I would suspect an acclimation issue without any other details. How did you acclimate them to into the new tank?

What are your water params? What size is your tank? Do you have hiding places for them?

If your Cories were wild caught (which many are), usually there is about a 20% death rate.
