Bought a gH/kH test kit today on the way home.

kH 7

gH 14
(I was surprised it was this high even though I knew the water here is hard)

pH is at 7.7 (bright blue on the low and between 7.4 and 7.8 on the high)

I'm currently experimenting with using the AC 500 as a reactor. I'm skeptical at its effectiveness though. I'm not giving up yet as it has dropped the pH from 8.0 to 7.7 with about 1 bubble per second.

How much should I adjust the bubble rate?

i would double it and see how it goes. do you have a sponge or something on the outlet of the ac filter to stop the splashing? water all teh way as high as it can go? that right you prob will be at 4bps you you might want to go up to 3bps
